The DDH Coffee table is made of Maple Burl and Sapele.  The clients father was a woodworker, and the burl came from his shop.  I used a very peculiar piece of Sapele, it has a very unique grain - not at all like the linterlocked grain that you would typically see.  The client's home is a classic beach cabin, and I wanted the coffee table to reflect this delicateness.    ​
