THE OREGON CABINET

2010

IS MADE PRIMARILY OF DOUGLAS FIR AND CLARO WALNUT.  THE WOODS ARE ALSO KNOWN AS OREGON PINE AND OREGON WALNUT – HENCE THE NAME.  THE INSIDE DOES HAVE A SPANISH CEDAR SHELF AND DIVIDER.  THE CABINET IS DESIGNED TO HOLD WINE AND LIQUOR.  THE HOLES IN THE DIVIDER ARE DRILLED AT 33° SO WHEN THE NECK OF A WINE BOTTLE IS PLACED THROUGH THEM THE CORK WILL REMAIN HYDRATED DURING AGING.  I ALSO PUT A SLIGHT DOME ON THE TOP OF THE PROJECT TO DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM SETTING THEIR DRINKS UPON THE CABINET.  I COULD HAVE DONE A FLAT TOP AND AN AGGRESSIVE WATERPROOF FINISH, BUT I THOUGHT THE HARMONY OF TONE AND GLOSS WAS WORTH PRESERVING.  THE ENTIRE PIECE IS HAND RUBBED WITH OIL.  THIS PIECE IS CURRENTLY FOR SALE.  CONTACT US FOR MORE INFORMATION.
